The 14th Annual Local Sightings Film Festival is now accepting entries.
Entry Deadline is July 1

Local Sightings is our annual showcase of current narrative, documentary and experimental film by Northwest artists. The week long festival (taking place this year September 30-October 6) also features panel discussions, historic NW films, a filmmaker lounge, a stellar opening night party, and juried awards for a winning short and feature film! Submit your work by downloading the submission form here and send us your screener copy on DVD. All work must have been completed no earlier than January 2010. The deadline for submission is July 1.

2010 Winners Announced

Thank you to all the filmmakers who submitted and participated in the 13th annual Local Sightings Film Festival! Thank you also to our jury of film industry professionals, who took record time this year deliberating the festival’s winning films.

This year’s winning feature film is Bummer Summer, directed by Zach Weintraub. The winning short is The Man Who Shot the Man Who Shot Lincoln by Drew Christie. (The short film Famous 4A also received an honorable mention.)

Bummer Summer will return to Northwest Film Forum for a full week’s run, and Mr. Weintraub will receive a $1,000 cash prize.

Drew Christie will receive a $500 cash prize as well as $500 of studio time and equipment rental.

2010 Local Sightings Program Announced

Northwest Film Forum is proud to announce details about it’s 13^th annual Local Sightings Film Festival, which takes place October 1-6, 2010, at the Film Forum’s cinemas on 12^th Avenue on Capitol Hill. Local Sightings is Northwest Film Forum’s premier showcase of Northwest filmmaking. This year’s event will include the Northwest premiere of six feature films, and the world premiere of the documentary Citizen Mayor. Seventy-five short films will be screened, as well as the historic film Darkness Rising. The opening night film will be the crowd-pleasing coming-of-age dramedy Bummer Summer, and closing night will be a special presentation of a new documentary about poet Jesse Bernstein, I am Secretly an Important Man, at the Moore Theatre. And it all kicks off with a Big Opening Night Party on October 1 beginning at 9pm.

Announcing Northwest Film Forum’s 13th Annual Local Sightings Film Festival

Local Sightings is Northwest Film Forum’s premier showcase of Northwest filmmaking. The festival, which happens at Film Forum theaters in Seattle, features great prizes, filmmaker parties, archival Northwest films and an impressive national film industry jury looking for strong Northwest work.

The annual festival includes both feature film presentations as well as short film programs and special events with live film performances, installation art, audience participation and parties. Also in this year’s festival will be the usual assortment of fiction, documentary and experimental films as well as a featured presentation of a historical Seattle film, and an opening party that will ignite Seattle’s film scene Friday night and keep it bleary eyed Saturday morning.

Join us for our 15th Anniversary Bash and Local Sightings Opening Night Party. Come dressed like it’s the year of our founding, 1995, and dance the night away to tunes from that bygone era.
